You landed on Phu Quoc without a visa. The mainland is a separate question.
The island exemption is generous, and it is also exactly what it says: an exemption for the island. Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and everywhere else need a real visa โ and there is a way to get one without flying out of the country first. Processing is usually 1 to 3 days.

What the Phu Quoc exemption actually covers
- Every nationality can enter Phu Quoc without a visa, for up to 30 days, as long as you arrive directly on the island.
- That exemption applies to Phu Quoc only. The moment you want to travel to the mainland, you need a visa like any other visitor.
This catches people out constantly. You arrive with no paperwork and no trouble, you have a good week on the island, and then you look at a map and think you may as well see Ho Chi Minh City on the way home. That onward flight is where the exemption stops.
Your options
Two ways to reach the mainland
Fly out, then fly back in
Leave Vietnam, apply for a visa the normal way, and re-enter on it. It works, and for some itineraries it is genuinely the cheaper answer โ especially if you were flying through another country anyway.
Apply from where you are
Have the visa arranged while you are still on the island, so you continue your trip without the detour. This is the route most people are looking for when they message us, and it is not available to everyone.
We will tell you honestly which of the two makes more sense for your dates and your route. Sometimes the answer is the first one, and we will say so.
Our role
What we do โ and what we do not do
EntryVN does not issue visas and does not sponsor anyone. We check whether your case qualifies, tell you plainly what we see, and file through a partner who holds the licence to do this work.
Whether it is granted, and how long it is granted for, is decided by immigration. Not by the partner, and not by us. If anyone offers you a guaranteed outcome on this, be careful.
EntryVN is an independent private service, not affiliated with the Vietnam Immigration Department or any government agency.
How it works
We check first. You pay second.
Message us while you are still on the island
Your nationality, the date you landed on Phu Quoc, and where you want to go next. Timing matters here โ the earlier in your 30 days you ask, the more room there is to work with.
We check whether your case qualifies
Not every case does. We would rather tell you that on day two than after you have paid and rearranged your plans.
Free โ no charge, no obligationIf it is worth pursuing, you pay the advisory fee
This covers the case review and connecting your file to the licensed partner.
USD 20 ยท paid upfront ยท non-refundableYou pay the processing fee and send your documents
Quoted to you before you commit to anything. This is not a routine low-cost process and we will not pretend otherwise.
Quoted per caseThe partner files it and we keep you posted
Usually 1 to 3 days. Government offices are closed at weekends, so a file that starts on a Friday can run longer. Do not book an onward flight until the visa is in hand.
Usually 1โ3 daysBefore you ask: we do not publish a price
The processing fee depends on your nationality and your circumstances, so a single number on a web page would be wrong for most people who read it. What we can tell you upfront is that this is considerably more than a standard e-visa, because it is a licensed company putting its name behind you on a non-routine case.
If budget is the deciding factor, say so in your first message. We will compare it honestly against simply flying out and back in, and tell you which one costs you less.
Documents
What you will need to show
The same standard applies here as to any sponsored route. Someone has to be confident enough in your file to stand behind it, and that confidence comes from paperwork.
Travelling with someone? Send their passport page and flight booking too. If you are sharing a room, your booking covers both of you.
Straight answers
Things worth knowing before you message
Can I just take the ferry or a domestic flight to the mainland?
Not on the exemption alone. The exemption is for Phu Quoc. Travelling onward into Vietnam means entering the country properly, and that needs a visa.
Will it definitely be approved?
No, and nobody can promise you otherwise. It is decided by immigration. What we can do is tell you honestly whether your case looks worth the money before you spend it.
How long will I get on the mainland?
That is part of the decision, not something we set. We will tell you what is realistic for your case when we check it โ we are not going to print a number here that may not apply to you.
Is the advisory fee refundable if it does not work out?
No. It pays for the review and the referral, which happen either way. You will know this before you pay, not after.
I am on day 25 of my 30. Is it too late?
Probably not โ processing is usually 1 to 3 days. But message us now rather than later, because a weekend in the middle changes the maths. If there is not enough time we will say so instead of taking your money.
Is flying out and back in really cheaper?
Sometimes, yes โ particularly if there is a convenient regional hub on your route. We will compare the two for you honestly. We would rather lose the booking than sell you the wrong thing.
