Vietnam Airline Carry-On Rules: What’s Allowed in 2026?

📅 July 2026⏱ 2 min read✍️ EntryVN Team
⚡ Quick Answer
Carry-on limits: Vietnam Airlines 10kg, VietJet Air 7kg, Bamboo Airways 10kg. Liquids must be under 100ml each, in a 1-liter clear bag.

Vietnam’s airlines have different carry-on policies — and budget carriers do enforce them at the gate. Here’s exactly what each allows:

AirlineCarry-On WeightMax DimensionsPersonal Item?
Vietnam Airlines10 kg56 × 36 × 23 cmYes (small bag)
VietJet Air7 kg56 × 36 × 23 cmYes (under-seat)
Bamboo Airways10 kg56 × 36 × 23 cmYes
Pacific Airlines7 kg54 × 38 × 23 cmYes

Liquids Rule

Standard international rule: containers must be 100ml or under, all fitting in a single 1-liter transparent resealable bag per passenger. This bag goes separately through the X-ray scanner.

Electronics & Batteries

Laptops must come out of your bag at security. Power banks and spare lithium batteries must be in carry-on only — not in checked luggage. This applies to drone batteries, camera batteries, and any loose cells.

⚠️ New power bank rule from 31 March 2026: Each passenger may carry a maximum of 2 power banks in carry-on. Power banks above 160Wh are completely prohibited. Those between 100–160Wh must be declared. Protect the charging port with tape or original packaging to prevent accidental activation.
⚠️ VietJet enforces 7kg strictly at the gate. They’ve been known to charge hefty fees for bags even 200g over. Weigh your carry-on before leaving for the airport.
Can I bring a drone carry-on?
The drone body can go in checked or carry-on. Batteries MUST be in carry-on. Note: flying drones in Vietnam requires a permit and many tourist areas ban them entirely.
Can I bring food in my carry-on?
On domestic Vietnam flights, solid food is generally fine. Arriving internationally, Vietnam customs rules apply to food items — see the duty-free tip for details.
