How Many Cigarettes Can You Bring Into Vietnam?

July 2026 · 2 min read · By EntryVN Team
Quick Answer

200 cigarettes, or 20 cigars, or 250g of loose tobacco — duty-free, per person.

Vietnam customs allows travelers to bring in one of these duty-free tobacco allowances: 200 cigarettes, or 20 cigars, or 250g of loose tobacco. You can’t combine these into a mixed allowance — it’s one category or the other, up to its own limit.

What Counts Alongside Tobacco

Alcohol has its own separate duty-free limits: 1.5 liters for spirits above 20% ABV, or 2.0 liters for drinks at or below 20% ABV, plus 3.0 liters of beer. These are tracked independently of your tobacco allowance.

  • 200 cigarettes OR 20 cigars OR 250g loose tobacco (choose one)
  • Amounts above this may be taxed or require declaration
  • Applies per adult passenger, not per family
✅ Pro TipIf you’re traveling with more than the allowance, declare it in the Red Channel. Going over without declaring risks the excess being taxed or confiscated on the spot.
