Can You Bring a Power Bank on Vietnam Flights?
Quick Answer
Yes, in carry-on only — max 2 power banks per passenger, never in checked baggage.
Under Vietnam’s power bank rules (effective 31 March 2026), power banks must always be carried in your hand luggage — they are completely banned from checked baggage. Each passenger is limited to a maximum of 2 power banks.
Capacity Limits
- Under 100Wh: allowed, up to 2 units
- 100–160Wh: allowed, up to 2 units, but must be declared to airline/security staff
- Over 160Wh: banned outright — cannot fly, checked or carry-on
Protecting the Terminals
Airport security may ask you to show that the power bank’s connectors are protected — with tape, a dedicated pouch, or its original packaging — to prevent accidental short-circuiting in your bag.
⚠️ Check Before You PackMost power banks don’t list Wh clearly — look for mAh and voltage on the label. A common 20,000mAh/3.7V bank is roughly 74Wh, well within the limit, but always check the printed spec.
