Tan Son Nhat Airport: International vs Domestic Terminal?

July 7, 2026 · 2 min read · By EntryVN Team
Quick Answer

At Tan Son Nhat (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City, Terminal 2 (T2) handles international flights and Terminal 1 (T1) handles domestic flights.

Tan Son Nhat is Vietnam’s busiest airport, and like Noi Bai in Hanoi, it splits traffic across two terminals. If you’re arriving from or flying to another country, go to Terminal 2. Terminal 1 is strictly for flights within Vietnam.

Getting Between Terminals

T1 and T2 sit close together and are linked by a short walkway and a free shuttle bus. The transfer is quicker than at Noi Bai, but SGN can get very crowded during peak hours, so don’t cut your connection time too fine.

  • Free shuttle bus runs continuously between T1 and T2
  • Walking distance between terminals is about 5–10 minutes
  • Immigration queues at T2 can run to three hours when several flights land together — factor this into any tight connections
✅ Pro TipDouble-check your terminal on your boarding pass or e-ticket before heading to the airport. If you’re being picked up by a driver or hotel shuttle, tell them “T1” or “T2” specifically — SGN traffic makes re-routing a hassle.
